Dog Air Travel Tips

Checking your dog into the airport:
• Air Travel: Prefer direct flights. Freeze the water in a bowl. Put a note on your suitcase remembering to take it. Easy to plan, and easy to forget.
• Put a big sign on your travel crate saying something like “Hi, I’m Fido” – or something friendly. Airline personnel might be more likely to cheerfully say hello. Also better chance your dog will stay alive.
• Airport driving times during Normal traffic – from Fairfield’s I-80 and highway 12 interchange: Sacramento International Airport – 45 minutes. Oakland and San Francisco International Airport – 50 minutes.
• I didn't find the airports took much more time when traveling with my dog.
• Alaska Air and Horizon Air just dropped their cargo kennel check in fees from $150 to $100.

  1. Dogs generally travel more easily than cats on planes.
